Chinese CG lauds growing educational ties at 75th anniversary event

LAHORE, Jun 12 (APP): A ceremony was held at a local educational institution in Lahore to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the longstanding friendship, cultural harmony and educational cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese Consul General (CG) in Lahore, Sun Yan, attended the event as the chief guest.
Senior academic officials welcomed the CG and underscored the significance of Pak-China relations and the growing educational collaboration between the two friendly countries.
The main ceremony held at the institution’s central auditorium, was attended by a large number of teachers, students and members of civil society.
During his visit, the CG toured the institution’s Chinese Language Centre and interacted with students in the Chinese language.
A documentary on the history of Pak-China relations was screened on the occasion, while highlights from celebrations marking China’s National Day last year were also presented.
Students performed songs reflecting Chinese and Punjabi cultures, receiving appreciation from the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Sun Yan praised the cordial relations between the institution and the Chinese Consulate and commended the students for their talent and cultural performances.
He said scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students would continue and efforts would be made to further strengthen educational, research and cultural cooperation with Chinese universities. He added that the younger generation could play a key role in deepening the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to the chief guest. A cake decorated with the national flags of Pakistan and China was also cut to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
