Dera Ismail Khan , Jun 12 (APP):The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) carried out a grand operation against electricity theft in various areas of Dera Ismail Khan, removing dozens of illegal power connections and initiating legal action against offenders.
The operation was conducted on the directives of Superintending Engineer PESCO Dera Circle, Engineer Hizbullah Khan Mehsud. Acting Executive Engineer (XEN) Rural Division, Engineer Sanaullah Khan, supervised the campaign, while Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Mandhran Sub-Division, Engineer Irfan Khan, led the field team.
According to PESCO officials, the operation was conducted in Kalma Garden and Bagh Muhammad areas with the objective of eliminating illegal electricity connections (kundas) from the CRBC feeder and reducing excessive load on the system to improve power supply for consumers.
During the operation, the PESCO team, comprising Feeder In-charge Najeeb Baloch and Recovery In-charge Jehangzeb Khan, detected and removed 53 direct illegal electricity connections. Two low-tension (LT) wires used for unauthorized power supply were also dismantled.
Officials said that letters had been forwarded to Police Station Shorkot for the registration of cases against the individuals involved in power theft.
Speaking to media representatives, SDO Engineer Irfan Khan said that the CRBC feeder had been experiencing frequent tripping due to overloading caused by illegal connections. He expressed confidence that the removal of unauthorized connections would significantly reduce the load on the feeder and improve electricity supply in the area.
He reiterated that electricity thieves would not be given any concession and affirmed that PESCO’s anti-power theft operations would continue across the region to curb losses and ensure uninterrupted power supply to legitimate consumers.
