KARACHI, Jun 10 (APP): Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited the Spencer Eye Hospital of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and underwent a medical checkup by following the regular OPD procedure like an ordinary citizen.
On this occasion, KMC Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffar, Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary Leader in City Council Karamullah Waqasi, and Senior Director Estate Department Sumeera were also present.
Mayor Karachi obtained an OPD slip like other patients, waited for his turn in the OPD, and got himself examined by the doctor without any special protocol.
On the occasion, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that our effort is to ensure that quality healthcare facilities are provided to every citizen of the city without discrimination and on an equal basis.
Restoring citizens’ trust in public institutions is our top priority, and practical steps are being taken for this purpose.
He said that the condition of Spencer Eye Hospital was different in the past; however, today this institution is becoming a centre of public trust, and he is also getting his treatment from the same hospital, which is proof that improvements are being made in public sector institutions.
Mayor Karachi said that medical facilities, availability of medicines, cleanliness, and modern medical equipment in KMC hospitals will be further improved so that citizens can receive the best possible healthcare services.
He said that public assets are being developed on modern lines while ensuring their effective and transparent utilization so that every citizen can benefit from these facilities.
He added that it is our responsibility to make institutions established through citizens’ taxes into true centres of public service, and all available resources are being utilized for this purpose.
Mayor Karachi said that institutions like Spencer Eye Hospital are of great importance for the citizens of Karachi, where essential eye care and medical facilities are being provided.
Our aim is to enhance the capacity of these institutions, provide facilities according to modern requirements, and ensure that patients receive quality treatment in a better environment.
He further said that continuous measures are being taken for the improvement of hospitals and healthcare centres operating under KMC.
With the cooperation of doctors, medical staff, and administrative officers, further improvements will be brought to the healthcare sector so that the citizens of Karachi can receive the best treatment facilities within their own city.
