CTPL launch installation of CM QR Panic Buttons in public transport

LAHORE, Jun 10 (APP):City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has launched the installation of Chief Minister Punjab QR Panic Buttons in public transport vehicles to enhance passenger safety and security under the vision of a safer Punjab.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi formally inaugurated the campaign at Liberty Chowk by personally installing QR Panic Buttons in rickshaws. More than 100 rickshaws have been equipped with the safety feature during the initial phase of the drive with the cooperation of the Awami Rickshaw Union.
Speaking on the occasion, the CTO said the QR Panic Button system would gradually be extended to all buses, wagons, rickshaws and taxis operating in Lahore. He said citizens could obtain QR Panic Buttons free of cost through the Public Safety App and the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) website.
Shirazi said the campaign was aimed not only at installing the safety feature but also at creating awareness among commuters and transport operators regarding its usage, benefits and emergency response mechanism. He explained that passengers could instantly alert the police and the PSCA during emergencies by scanning the QR Panic Button. The system enables the immediate transmission of a passenger’s live location and vehicle details to law enforcement agencies, ensuring a swift response to emergencies, he added.
The CTO said CTPL would take prompt action on alerts received through the PSCA to ensure the safety of commuters. He further said the initiative would significantly enhance the safety of women, students and millions of citizens who rely on public transport services on a daily basis.
The QR Panic Button project was a joint initiative of CTPL and the PSCA aimed at transforming public transport into a modern digital safety network and providing citizens with safer, smarter and more secure travel facilities.
