The police have tightened the noose around gambling networks operating under the guise of card games and pigeon racing, arresting eight accused in coordinated raids during action against illegal activities and public nuisances across the district.

FAISALABAD, Jun 10 (APP): The police have tightened the noose around gambling networks operating under the guise of card games and pigeon racing, arresting eight accused in coordinated raids during action against illegal activities and public nuisances across the district.
Police spokesman said that police teams from Millat Town, Chak Jhumra and Sandal Bar police stations conducted targeted operations and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly gambling. The arrested accused included Abdullah, Asad, Waleed, Jabbar, Bilal and others. Police registered separate cases against them and launched further investigations.
He said that the operations were carried out after following credible information regarding gambling activities under the cover of recreational gatherings. The raids resulted in the successful apprehension of the accused while evidence related to the illegal activity was also taken into custody, he added.
Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said that Faisalabad Police would not allow criminal or unlawful activities to flourish under any circumstances.
He stressed that individuals involved in illegal practices were not entitled to any leniency and would face strict action under the law. “Gambling is an illegal activity and a serious social evil that adversely affects individuals, families and society as a whole. The police will continue taking firm action against those involved in such offences”, he added.
He said that maintaining law and order and protecting citizens from social crimes remained among the top priorities of Faisalabad Police. The ongoing intelligence-based operations would continue across the district to eliminate gambling dens and other unlawful activities, he added.
He urged the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious and illegal activities in their localities, enabling police authorities to take timely action and ensure a safer environment for the public.
