Dialogue among civilizations imperative for peaceful resolution of conflicts, sustainable stability: Ayaz

ISLAMABAD, Jun 09 (APP):Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday said that fostering mutual respect, tolerance and constructive engagement among diverse cultures, civilizations, and nations was indispensable for global peace, stability and shared prosperity.
He said that in the prevailing global scenario, dialogue, diplomacy and mutual cooperation, rather than confrontation were the need of the hour for the peaceful resolution of differences and disputes.
He made these remarks in his message issued on the occasion of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, observed worldwide on June 10 each year.
Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that Pakistan has consistently championed the cause of global peace, interfaith harmony, tolerance and mutual respect at the international level.
He said that contemporary security, economic and environmental challenges facing the global community could only be effectively and sustainably addressed through collective efforts, parliamentary diplomacy and constructive engagement.
Ayaz Sadiq said that parliaments, being the true representatives of the people, could play a pivotal role in promoting harmony, respect and cordial relations among nations.
He highlighted that the 103 Parliamentary Friendship Groups established in the National Assembly were actively contributing to strengthening ties with parliaments around the world, enhancing mutual understanding, fostering trust and respect, and advancing shared development and sustainable peace.
Referring to Pakistan’s diplomatic role, Ayaz Sadiq said that during recent tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan, as a responsible and peace-loving state, played a constructive and proactive role in promoting dialogue and understanding between East and West.
He said that Pakistan’s efforts for the promotion of dialogue have been widely acknowledged at the international level.
The Speaker that during the Pakistan-India tensions as well, Pakistan demonstrated a responsible approach by offering transparent, impartial, and joint investigations into the Pahalgam false flag incident in response to India’s unfounded propaganda against Pakistan, while consistently emphasizing dialogue and diplomatic means for resolution.
He said Pakistan has always prioritized peaceful dispute resolution, regional stability, and trust-building.
Ayaz Sadiq said that the statesmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the strategic leadership of Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played a significant role in effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance at the global level, which was widely recognized by the international community.
He stressed that all outstanding disputes must be resolved through dialogue, understanding and mutual respect for sovereignty, rights and the principle of self-determination.
The speaker reiterated the need for a peaceful settlement of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and the Palestine issue through diplomacy, negotiations and implementation of relevant United Nations resolutions.
He expressed deep concern over human rights violations in both occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces and in Palestine by Israeli occupying forces, and urged the international community to play its role in ensuring an end to these injustices.
Ayaz Sadiq also termed India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as a blatant violation of international law and treaty obligations, emphasizing that adherence to the treaty is essential for regional peace, stability, and mutual trust.
He said that dialogue and mutual understanding among civilizations, nations, and states were not only a means of promoting harmony but also an effective pathway toward peaceful conflict resolution, confidence-building, and sustainable development.
Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue playing its positive role for global peace, international cooperation and constructive diplomacy.
Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that dialogue, engagement and mutual respect among different civilizations, religions, and cultures played a key role in eliminating hatred, extremism and prejudice.
He stressed the need for the international community to further strengthen relations based on mutual respect, equality, and shared interests for the establishment of a peaceful, stable and prosperous world.
