ISLAMABAD, Jun 09 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday visited the Press Information Department (PID) here, where he was briefed on the department’s performance, responsibilities and various operational wings.
Pakistan Peoples Party Central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan accompanied the Governor during the visit. Principal Information Officer (PIO) Mubashir Hassan, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, received the Governor upon his arrival.
During the briefing, officials highlighted PID’s role in effectively communicating government policies and promoting the national narrative at both domestic and international levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi appreciated the department’s performance in line with modern communication requirements and said the Ministry of Information and its attached organizations were rendering valuable services in safeguarding national interests and ensuring the timely dissemination of accurate information.
He said the ministry’s efforts to counter negative and misleading narratives against Islam and the State of Pakistan were commendable and reflected its commitment to protecting the country’s image.
The Governor particularly praised the role played by PID and its affiliated institutions during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, describing their response to India’s “false propaganda” at national and international forums as exemplary. He paid tribute to PIO Mubashir Hassan and his team for their professional and proactive contribution.
During the briefing, the PIO informed the Governor that a digital cell was also being established in Peshawar to further strengthen strategic communication and digital outreach.
Governor Kundi welcomed the initiative and said that maintaining an edge in the digital domain was essential in the contemporary era.
He expressed confidence that the establishment of the digital cell would produce far-reaching results.
He said the institutions working under the Ministry of Information had played a vital role in protecting national interests, providing fact-based information and effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance before the international community.
