Food Inspector arrested in Rs125m gunny bags scam

Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Layyah has arrested a food inspector in connection with an alleged embezzlement of government gunny bags worth Rs125 million, with raids continuing to nab remaining suspects.

LAYYAH, Jun 09 (APP):Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Layyah has arrested a food inspector in connection with an alleged embezzlement of government gunny bags worth Rs125 million, with raids continuing to nab remaining suspects.
The arrested official, food inspector Azadar Hussain , was taken into custody after a case was registered over the alleged misappropriation of state property. Circle Officer Anti-Corruption has deployed teams to trace nominated accused Ghulam Sarwar, Additional Food Controller (AFC), and others still at large.
Authorities have paced up efforts to recover the missing gunny bags and broadened the scope of the investigation. Anti-corruption officials vowed that action against those causing losses to the national exchequer would continue without discrimination.
