RAWALPINDI, Jun 08 (APP):The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree was undertaking construction and rehabilitation projects in various parts of the hill station to strengthen drainage infrastructure and minimise the risk of urban flooding during the upcoming monsoon season.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Murree, WASA teams were engaged in the construction, repair and cleaning of roadside drains and main drainage channels in the areas of Pindi Point, Kashmir Point and Mamdot House.
According to a WASA spokesperson, the project includes the rehabilitation of old and deteriorated drainage structures and the introduction of modern measures to ensure the timely disposal of rainwater.
He said durable and high-quality materials were being used in the construction and repair works to prevent blockages during heavy rainfall and to protect roads, residential areas and tourist destinations from water accumulation.
The spokesperson said the upgraded drainage system would not only facilitate residents but also provide a cleaner and safer environment for tourists visiting Murree.
He noted that Murree, as a major tourist destination, required an efficient drainage network during the rainy season and that the agency was implementing a comprehensive strategy to improve infrastructure, strengthen sanitation services and enhance civic amenities across the city.
WASA Murree reaffirmed its commitment to providing improved public services through the development of sustainable and modern infrastructure, adding that the ongoing projects would contribute to a cleaner, safer and more pleasant environment for both residents and visitors.
The projects would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, enabling the public to benefit from the improved facilities at the earliest, he added.
