RAWALPINDI, Jun 08 (APP):The Horticulture Agency, Rawalpindi (HAR), has launched a special campaign to maintain and further enhance the beauty, greenery, and environmental value of Atta-ur-Rehman Shaheed Park, one of the city’s leading recreational facilities.
Acting on the directives of Managing Director Ahmad Hassan Ranjha, the authority has initiated a series of measures to improve the park’s appearance and ensure high-quality recreational facilities for visitors.
According to a HAR spokesperson, Atta-ur-Rehman Shaheed Park attracts a large number of residents, families, senior citizens, women and young people daily for walking, exercise and leisure activities. Recognising its importance, the authority has devised a comprehensive strategy for the park’s maintenance, cleanliness and beautification.

Ranjha directed the relevant officers and staff to ensure proper care of lawns, flower beds, trees, shrubs and other horticultural features. He said public parks played a vital role in enhancing urban beauty, maintaining environmental balance and promoting the physical and mental well-being of citizens.
Under the campaign, efforts have been intensified to ensure timely grass cutting, pruning of plants, seasonal flower plantation, improvement of irrigation systems, replacement of dry and diseased plants, cleaning of walking tracks and repair of public facilities. The number of seasonal flowers and ornamental plants is also being increased to further improve the park’s visual appeal.
The spokesperson said dedicated teams had been assigned to conduct daily inspections and monitor cleanliness standards. Regular waste disposal, maintenance of benches and lighting systems, and upkeep of public amenities were being ensured to provide visitors with a safe and comfortable environment.
Highlighting the importance of green spaces amid growing environmental challenges, he said urban parks had become increasingly significant in combating pollution and improving living standards. He said Atta-ur-Rehman Shaheed Park served not only as a recreational facility but also as an important contributor to environmental protection.
He appealed to citizens to help maintain cleanliness in the park, dispose of waste at designated points, avoid damaging plants and flowers and cooperate in protecting public property.
