FAISALABAD, Jun 08 (APP): A specialized training session for vegetable growers was organized under the joint collaboration of the Punjab Agricultural Marketing Regulatory Authority (PAMRA), Food Safety & Consumer Protection Department, and Strengthening Agricultural Marketing Information Service (SAMIS) to enhance farmers’ capacity in modern agricultural marketing, grading, packaging and market access systems.
Project Director Dr Tanveer Khaliq Shami presided over the training program held at Government Model School Chak No.76-JB Jodhan.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of equipping farmers with modern skills to improve productivity and profitability in the agricultural sector.
The agricultural experts and representatives of relevant departments provided practical guidance to vegetable growers during the session, focusing on efficient marketing practices, emerging market trends, commodity pricing mechanisms and access to real-time market information systems.
The speakers including Sajid Iqbal Sandhu, Dr Abdul Rehman Khan, Dr Imtiaz Hussain, Fakhar-ul-Fayyaz Khan, Dr Muhammad Usman and others highlighted that the training would help farmers secure better prices for their produce, understand market demand and benefit from modern agri-business opportunities.
They said that the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between farmers and markets by strengthening awareness about agricultural marketing systems and ensuring timely access to accurate market intelligence through government-supported information services.
The speakers urged vegetable growers in the region to fully benefit from such training programs, stating that improved knowledge of modern marketing and production techniques would help farmers avoid future challenges and increase their income through better decision-making.
The agricultural marketing information services being implemented under the Agriculture Department were designed to provide timely and reliable data to farmers so they could make informed choices and enhance the value of their produce in competitive markets, they added.
The participants were encouraged to adopt modern grading and packaging practices and stay updated with market requirements to fully benefit from evolving agricultural business opportunities, which could ultimately contribute to rural prosperity and sustainable agricultural development.
