Kundi, US Charge d’Affaires discuss investment, development cooperation in KP

ISLAMABAD, Jun 08 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi Monday met with United States Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker here and discussed opportunities for investment and development cooperation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa across key sectors including minerals, tourism, energy, health and education.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on promoting foreign investment in the province and enhancing economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
Kundi highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rich in valuable and rare mineral resources, offering vast opportunities for international investors.
The discussions also focused on expanding educational scholarship opportunities for youth from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged tribal districts.
Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening development cooperation and encouraging investment to support sustainable economic growth in the province.
Kundi emphasized the role of the private sector and international investment in achieving long-term development goals, while both delegations explored new opportunities in energy, tourism, and human resource development.
Natalie Baker expressed interest in supporting modern training and skill development initiatives for the province’s youth.
Kundi invited American investors to explore opportunities in the minerals, tourism, energy, and healthcare sectors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the overall law and order situation in the province, as well as the promotion of sports talent.
Kundi informed the US diplomat that the Khyber Cricket League is scheduled to be held in July.
Highlighting the importance of stronger commercial ties, Governor Kundi said that the exchange of trade delegations between Pakistan and the United States was essential for increasing bilateral trade volume. He also expressed concern over the closure of the US Consulate in Peshawar.
Meanwhile, Natalie Baker congratulated Kundi on the Pakistan Peoples Party’s victory in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
Governor Kundi attributed the party’s success to the effective election campaign led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and party workers.
Later, Governor Kundi hosted a luncheon in honor of the US Charge d’Affaires.
