LAHORE, Jun 07 (APP): Punjab Safe Cities Authority has introduced “CM Punjab QR Panic Button System” to make public safety more effective.
Under the system, QR panic buttons will be installed in buses, wagons, rickshaws, taxis and other public transport vehicles across Punjab.
According to Safe Cities officials, citizens will be able to get free QR panic buttons from home through the Public Safety App and Safe City website. Passengers will be able to access verified information of the vehicle, owner and driver by scanning the QR code at the start of the journey.
The new system has added 12 modern features including call, video call, live chat, location sharing, vehicle verification and immediate police response. In an emergency, passengers will be able to contact the Safe City Control Room immediately through a call, video call or live chat on 15 through the QR Panic Button, while their live location and vehicle data will also be received immediately by the control room.
Officials said that timely action and response would be ensured through the modern command and control system of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Drivers will also be able to get immediate help through the same system in any emergency.
IG Punjab Abdul Karim has said that the QR Panic Button will prove to be an effective means of immediate communication between the police and citizens and will play an important role in the protection of millions of people who travel daily, including women, senior citizens, students.
He said that a new standard of public safety was being established in Punjab through the combination of technology and smart policing.
The MD Safe City Ahsan Younis said that public transport across Punjab was being converted into a digital safety network so that timely help and immediate response could be provided to every citizen.
