ISLAMABAD, Jun 7 (APP):All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi has reaffirmed that the Hurriyat Conference will continue its peaceful political struggle for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, insisting that its campaign is firmly rooted in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions as well as internationally recognized legal and moral principles.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, in a statement, said that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute that has remained unresolved for decades.
He emphasized that the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination is non-negotiable and must be realized in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and internationally accepted principles.
He noted that the United Nations has acknowledged the Kashmiri people’s right to determine their political future through a free, fair and impartial plebiscite.
Safi said the Hurriyat Conference regards the realization of this right as the core objective of its movement and will continue pursuing political, diplomatic and public outreach efforts until the Kashmiri people are able to exercise their right to self-determination.
He further stated that the Hurriyat Conference views the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as an integral pillar of the self-determination movement.
He added that Pakistan remains a key stakeholder in the Kashmir dispute and has consistently extended political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people’s quest for their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said Kashmiris living in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan and across the world remain united in their commitment to the cause of self-determination. He described this unity as the greatest strength of the Kashmiri movement.
Expressing concern over attempts to create divisions among different segments of Kashmiri society, including refugees and local communities, he said such efforts only weaken the collective struggle and serve the interests of those opposed to the Kashmiri cause. He stressed that unity and a shared political vision are essential in the current circumstances.
Safi urged Kashmiris everywhere to stand firmly together on the fundamental demand for the right to self-determination and a UN-mandated plebiscite. He called on them to prioritize national interests over regional, political, and group differences and remain focused on their shared objective.
The APHC-AJK Convener said the Hurriyat Conference’s foremost responsibility is to unite the people around a common national agenda.
He reiterated the organization’s commitment to pursuing the democratic and political rights of the Kashmiri people through national unity, political harmony and a coordinated struggle for a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
