Hisense launch reflects global confidence in Pakistan’s industrial future: SAPM

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said on Saturday that Hisense, the global technology giant, launch in Pakistan is a clear proof of world’s strong vote of confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential, industrial capabilities, and investment environment.

LAHORE, Jun 06 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said on Saturday that Hisense, the global technology giant, launch in Pakistan is a clear proof of world’s strong vote of confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential, industrial capabilities, and investment environment.
He was addressing the Hisense launching ceremony organized by Airlink Communication Limited here at Expo Center. The launch event, marked a significant milestone for Pakistan’s consumer electronics and manufacturing sectors. The ceremony was also attended by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, industry representatives, and stakeholders from Pakistan’s technology and manufacturing sectors.
Haroon Akhtar Khan added that the arrival of Hisense sends a clear message to the international community that Pakistan is not merely a consumer market but an emerging hub of production, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial growth.
He stated that partnership between Hisense and Airlink represents a new model of industrial collaboration that combines global technology, local manufacturing excellence, skilled Pakistani talent, and a shared commitment to creating long-term economic value. He congratulated Airlink Communication Limited and Hisense for establishing a partnership that will contribute significantly to industrial development, employment generation, and technology transfer in Pakistan.
The SAPM emphasized that nations achieve sustainable prosperity not by consuming technology but by manufacturing, innovating, and exporting it. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has embarked on a comprehensive programme of economic and industrial transformation aimed at building a productive, competitive, export-oriented, and technology-driven economy.
Haroon Akhtar Khan said, the Hisense-Airlink collaboration is a practical manifestation of this vision. He highlighted that the partnership will facilitate technology transfer, skills development, industrial upgrading, and job creation while strengthening confidence in Pakistan’s future as a manufacturing destination.
Referring to Airlink’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the Sundar Special Economic Zone, he described it as a testament to Pakistani entrepreneurship and innovation. He noted that such facilities are not merely factories but engines of economic progress, centres of innovation, and platforms for developing skilled human capital.
The SAPM observed that every television assembled locally and every air conditioner manufactured in Pakistan contributes towards reducing imports, conserving foreign exchange reserves, strengthening industrial capacity, and creating employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing and technological advancement through progressive reforms and facilitative policies. He highlighted that the National Industrial Policy is focused on enhancing industrial competitiveness, attracting investment, promoting value-added manufacturing, and increasing exports. Similarly, the National Tariff Policy aims to rationalize tariffs, lower production costs, and create a predictable business environment for investors.
Haroon Akhtar Khan further stated that the Government’s Regulatory Guillotine initiative is removing unnecessary regulations, simplifying procedures, and reducing bureaucratic hurdles to facilitate ease of doing business. He reiterated that Pakistan is open for business, welcomes innovation, encourages partnerships, and remains committed to protecting investments.
Highlighting the importance of Pakistan-China economic cooperation, he said that the Hisense-Airlink partnership reflects the next phase of bilateral collaboration focused on industrial cooperation, manufacturing excellence, technological advancement, and business-to-business integration. He expressed confidence that deeper industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China would contribute to shared prosperity and sustainable growth.
The SAPM also appreciated Airlink’s commitment to inclusive growth, noting that the company employs more than 2,500 individuals, including a significant number of women. He emphasized that sustainable economic development requires investment in people alongside investment in technology and infrastructure.
Commenting on global technological trends, Haroon Akhtar Khan noted that artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, advanced electronics, digital commerce, automation, and renewable technologies are transforming industries worldwide. He said Pakistan has chosen to embrace these changes and position itself as a leader in the emerging industrial landscape.
He remarked that the launch of Hisense in Pakistan demonstrates that the country is transitioning from an import-dependent economy to a production-driven and industrial economy. “Pakistan is not merely a market; it is becoming a manufacturing hub,” he stated.
He said, Pakistan possesses the essential ingredients for success—talent, opportunity, and vision. He stressed that the country’s future will be shaped by the products it manufactures, the technologies it develops, and the opportunities it creates for its people.
