SAU student secures position at Huawei ICT Global Finals

HYDERABAD, Jun 06 (APP): Pakistan achieved a significant milestone in the field of information and communication technology by securing third place in the Network Track of the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals 2025–2026 held in Shenzhen, China. The spokesman of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, informed here on Saturday that Muhammad Nouman Khan, a student of the university’s Information Technology Centre (ITC), had brought that pride to the country and the varsity. According to him, a Pakistani team comprising students from the SAU and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, demonstrated outstanding technical expertise and innovation, securing third position among teams from around the world.
He apprised that the global competition attracted 170 teams from 40 countries, providing a highly competitive platform for emerging ICT talent. He added that Khan represented Pakistan in the Network Track and played a key role in the team’s success through his technical skills and professional performance.
The SAU’s Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal congratulated Khan and the entire Pakistani team on their remarkable accomplishment. He said the university’s students were consistently earning recognition in international competitions, bringing honour not only to the institution but also to Pakistan.
“The continued success of our students in the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals demonstrates the quality of education and training being provided at the university in line with modern technological requirements,” he added.
The VC also acknowledged the contributions of Dr Sohrab Thaheem, faculty member at the Information Technology Centre, for his role in mentoring and preparing students for international competitions.
According to the spokesman, Dr Thaheem was a Huawei-approved instructor and served as the Point of Contact (POC) for Huawei ICT Academy. He had been actively involved in equipping students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in information technology and networking, he told.
Faculty members, students and members of the academic community congratulated Khan, the Pakistani team and Dr Sohrab Thaheem, expressing hope that they would continue to achieve further success and bring laurels to the country.
