RAWALPINDI, Jun 06 (APP):The health authorities in Rawalpindi have intensified dengue prevention efforts following recent rains, with strict monitoring of hotspots ordered at a meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema and Tahira Aurangzeb MNA, on Saturday with participants from different allied departments.
The participants reviewed the current dengue situation, surveillance measures, larva eradication, indoor and outdoor activities, and public awareness campaigns.
The DC directed that all dengue hotspots, including under-construction buildings, graveyards, junkyards, tyre shops and nurseries, be closely monitored in view of increased risk of larva growth after rains.
He said field teams should accelerate daily surveillance and larva eradication activities and ensure immediate action wherever stagnant water is found. He warned that negligence in dengue prevention would not be tolerated and directed all departments to perform their duties effectively through coordinated efforts.
Tahira Aurangzeb said that protection of public health remained the government’s top priority and all available resources would be utilized to make the anti-dengue campaign more effective.
She also urged the citizens to keep their surroundings clean and adopt preventive measures to support the administration in eliminating dengue.
