UAF stages rally on World Environment Day

The Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences (ISES), University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), has observed World Environment Day 2026 and taken out a rally following the tree plantation.

FAISALABAD, Jun 05 (APP): The Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences (ISES), University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), has observed World Environment Day 2026 and taken out a rally following the tree plantation.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali led the rally which commenced from Faculty of Agriculture and concluded at University clock tower.
The event, organized under the global theme of “Climate Action,” brought together faculty members, students, researchers, and environmental experts to raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable practices.
Speaking on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali said that climate change has emerged as one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, affecting food security, water resources, biodiversity, and livelihoods across the globe.
He said that educational institutions have a pivotal role in creating awareness, promoting research-based solutions, and preparing future leaders to tackle environmental challenges.
He said the government was taking tangible steps to address the issue. “Suthra Punjab Program” is a hallmark step for promoting cleanliness, proper waste management, and environmental awareness across the province, he added.
He said that UAF is committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation through innovative research, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives.
He urged the students and society at large to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles and actively participate in efforts aimed at protecting natural resources for future generations.
Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza said that environmental sustainability is essential for ensuring agricultural productivity and national development.
He said that soil health, water conservation, eco-friendly collaborative efforts and climate-resilient agricultural practices are critical components in combating the adverse impacts of climate change.
Tree plantation and awareness campaigns are effective tools for fostering environmental consciousness among youth and communities, he added.
