IHC seeks report on funds for Bhong Interchange construction on Multan-Sukkur Motorway

ISLAMABAD, Jun 04 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday accepted the request of the petitioner’s counsel for an early hearing of the case pertaining to the construction of the Bhong Interchange on the Multan-Sukkur Motorway in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgment.
The court sought a report regarding funds and adjourned the hearing until next week.
Justice Muhammad Asif heard the petition filed by Raees Munir. Petitioner’s counsel Waqar Rana appeared before the court.
The written report regarding funds for the construction of the interchange could not be submitted today. The government counsel informed the court that the case was listed in the supplementary cause list and the report has not been submitted yet.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted that during the previous hearing, it was stated that Rs. 294 million had been released, but funds for May have not yet been released to the contractor, and no report has been received. Waqar Rana requested the court to fix the case for an early hearing so that funds do not lapse due to the budget schedule.
The court sought the report and adjourned further hearing of the case until next week.
Officials of the Ministry of Communications had stated during the previous hearing that funds amounting to Rs. 264 million had been released.
