LAHORE, Jun 04 (APP): Enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority, on the directions of Director General Punjab Food Authority Syed Musa Raza, carried out a successful operation against a supplier involved in the distribution of adulterated milk. During the action, 5,000 litres of fake milk was discarded, an FIR was lodged against the supplier and the milk tanker was confiscated.
Dairy Safety Team accompanied by the Additional Director Lahore, set up a checkpoint at Gajju Mata Ring Road and inspected vehicle No. LXP-6044. Action was initiated after the milk sample failed laboratory testing. Analysis revealed the presence of vegetable ghee adulteration and a deficiency of natural milk fat, rendering the milk unsafe and substandard for consumption.
The DG PFA said that inspection teams found adulterated milk was intended for supply to various areas of Lahore. The supplier also failed to produce the mandatory milk collection and supply records required under food safety regulations. Consequently, an FIR was registered and the milk tanker was seized for involvement in fraudulent practices.
He said that strict monitoring and traceability mechanisms are being enforced to ensure the quality and safety of milk from dairy farms to consumers. He said that Punjab Food Authority is committed to eliminating every form of food adulteration and fraud from the province.
He further said that, under the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, a zero-tolerance policy is being implemented against adulteration mafias and every possible measure is being taken to make Punjab free from food fraud.
