ATTOCK, Jun 4 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched a decisive operation against the sale of substandard beverages in Attock on Thursday, confiscating and destroying 350 liters of unsafe mango juice after laboratory tests confirmed that the product failed to meet prescribed food safety standards. The action underscores the authority’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and ensure the availability of quality food products in the market.
According to PFA officials, samples of mango juice were collected from a trader operating near the Power House area and sent for laboratory analysis. The test results revealed serious quality concerns, prompting immediate enforcement action against the vendor for violating food safety regulations.
Following the findings, the authority seized and disposed of the entire stock of failed juice to prevent its distribution among consumers. In addition, the trader was fined Rs40,000. Officials disclosed that the beverage contained artificial sweeteners and did not comply with the quality benchmarks established by the Punjab Food Authority.
The PFA reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards adulterated and substandard food products, warning business operators against compromising consumer safety. Officials further noted that a province-wide sampling campaign targeting juices and beverages is currently underway to curb food adulteration and protect public health across Punjab.
