Meeting held to ensure peaceful Muharram observance

Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza chaired a joint meeting  of licensed procession organizers and founders of religious congregations (Majalis) to review the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

of licensed procession organizers and founders of religious congregations (Majalis) to review the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting focused on issues likely to arise during Muharram, including security arrangements, public facilitation measures, and coordination between the district administration and organizers of religious gatherings and processions.
During the session, the Deputy Commissioner carefully listened to concerns and suggestions presented by participants and assured them that all legitimate issues would be addressed promptly and effectively. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur
City Iqra Mubeen, licensed organizers and founders of Majalis from across the tehsil, while Assistant Commissioners from other tehsils participated through video link.
The participants expressed their full commitment to promoting peace, religious harmony, brotherhood, and mutual cooperation during Muharram-ul-Haram. They assured the district administration of their complete support in maintaining law and order, and ensuring the smooth conduct of religious activities.
During the meeting, licensed organizers and founders of Majalis unanimously agreed that there would be no compromise on the principles, traditions, identity, and sanctity of Azadari.
They reaffirmed their commitment to conducting all religious activities responsibly and in accordance with established traditions.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza said that Azadari serves as a means of preserving and honoring the memory of the unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala. He stated that one of the foremost responsibilities of mourners was to uphold the sanctity, discipline, traditions, and values associated with Azadari.
He emphasized that all participants in Majalis and processions should observe discipline, respect religious traditions, and contribute to strengthening unity, tolerance, and brotherhood within society.
The Deputy Commissioner assured participants that comprehensive security measures would be implemented to safeguard mourners and facilitate the smooth conduct of all Muharram-related events. He stated that the district administration and law enforcement agencies were fully mobilized to ensure the peaceful, orderly, and dignified observance of Muharram-ul-Haram. Every possible facility and security arrangement, he added, would
be provided to mourners and participants.
Syed Hassan Raza further stressed that all Majalis and processions should be organized with mutual respect, discipline, and adherence to religious traditions so that sacred days of Muharram become a model of peace, tolerance, unity, and interfaith harmony.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both the administration and religious organizers to work together for maintaining peace, fostering communal harmony, and ensuring the successful observance of Muharram throughout the district.
