ISLAMABAD, Jun 04 (APP):A delegation of the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), led by its Chief Executive Officer Chuan Wee Meng, called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Supreme Court on Thursday and discussed measures to strengthen the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system in Pakistan.
The delegation is visiting Pakistan to conduct an Accredited Mediation Skills Workshop and Assessment Programme for judges at the Federal Judicial Academy. Supreme Court Judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Chief Justice highlighted the importance of mediation as a cost-effective and efficient mechanism for resolving disputes and outlined ongoing reforms aimed at promoting ADR in the justice sector. The discussion focused on capacity-building, judicial training and international cooperation to improve mediation practices and reduce the burden of litigation.
Mr. Chuan Wee Meng shared SIMC’s experience in institutionalising mediation and expressed support for capacity-building initiatives and the sharing of international best practices.
Both sides also explored cooperation in mediation training, accreditation and professional development, and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting mediation as an effective means of dispute resolution.
