HARIPUR, Jun 04 (APP):The District Administration Haripur Thursday has imposed a complete ban on swimming and bathing in streams, dams, lakes, and all other water bodies across the district under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in order to ensure public safety during the ongoing season.
Deputy Commissioner Haripur, Muhammad Waseem, while issuing the notification, stated that the decision has been taken in view of increasing safety risks for citizens and tourists at various water points, including dams, rivers, and natural streams, where strong currents and unpredictable water conditions can lead to fatal accidents.
He further warned that strict action will be taken against violators of the ban. Following the imposition of the ban, Assistant Commissioner Khanpur personally launched an awareness campaign by visiting Khanpur Lake. During the visit, the AC publicly informed visitors and tourists about the restriction, urging them to strictly comply with the order and avoid engaging in any water-related recreational activities that could endanger lives.
The district administration has appealed to citizens and tourists to cooperate fully, respect the law, and prioritize safety to prevent tragic incidents at water recreational sites, especially during the current tourist season.
