Three arrested for allegedly selling minor girl

SWABI, Jun 04 (APP):Police in Chota Lahore area here on Wednesday arrested three individuals allegedly involved in the sale of a 12-year-old girl, police officials said on Thursday.

According to police, the girl, identified as Saniya, was allegedly sold by her biological mother and grandfather to a man from Punjab for Rs50,000.

Police said the mother, grandfather, and the buyer have all been taken into custody. Investigations revealed that after receiving the payment, the suspects also arranged the minor girl’s marriage.

District Police Officer (DPO) Swabi termed human trafficking and child marriage as intolerable crimes and said strict legal action would be taken against those involved.

Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
