12 killed, 1,386 injured in road accidents across Punjab

At least 12 people lost their lives and 1,386 others sustained injuries in 1,171 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (ESD).

LAHORE, Jun 03 (APP): At least 12 people lost their lives and 1,386 others sustained injuries in 1,171 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (ESD).
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that emergency teams responded to road accidents in all 37 districts of the province. Of the injured, 628 with serious injuries were shifted to various hospitals, while 758 victims with minor injuries were provided medical treatment at the scene by Rescue Medical Teams.
According to Rescue 1122 data, the victims included 740 drivers, 57 underage drivers, 164 pedestrians and 494 passengers.
Lahore recorded the highest number of accidents with 206 road traffic crashes affecting 259 people, followed by Multan with 73 accidents and 81 victims, while Faisalabad reported 72 crashes involving 80 victims.
The statistics further revealed that a total of 1,398 persons were affected by the accidents, including 1,101 men and 297 women. Among the victims, 235 were below the age of 18 years, 785 were between 18 and 40 years, while 378 were above 40 years of age.
The data showed that 1,244 motorcycles, 78 auto-rickshaws, 142 cars, 28 vans, 13 passenger buses, 39 trucks and 54 other vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the reported accidents.
