LHC grants bail to accused in kidnapping for ransom case

LAHORE, Jun 03 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday granted bail to an accused involved in a kidnapping for ransom and robbery case after observing shortcomings in the prosecution’s case.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa allowed the bail petition of Muhammad Asif after hearing arguments from both sides.
Counsel for the accused, Advocate Chaudhry Nauman Noor, argued that his client was neither nominated in the FIR nor properly identified through the identification parade. He further submitted that no incriminating material or recovery had been made from the accused during the course of the investigation.
The defence counsel maintained that Muhammad Asif had remained behind bars for the past two years despite there being no concrete evidence linking him to the alleged crime, and requested the court to release him on bail.
The prosecution opposed the bail application and sought its dismissal. However, the prosecution failed to satisfy the court regarding the allegations against the accused.
After hearing the arguments, the bench accepted the bail petition and ordered the release of Muhammad Asif on bail.
According to the case record, the accused is facing charges in a kidnapping for ransom and robbery case registered at Saddar Farooqabad Police Station in Sheikhupura.
