GUJRAT, Jun 03 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) inspected 74 food businesses across Gujrat district and imposed fines on several outlets for violations of food safety and hygiene regulations.
According to official sources, the inspections were carried out by food safety teams on the directions of Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority Rizwan Saeed to check the quality and safety of food items.
During the operation, improvement notices were issued to 23 food points over hygiene violations, while seven food businesses were fined a total of Rs 135,000 for failing to comply with food safety standards.
The teams also discarded 9.7 kilograms of expired and substandard food items and collected a sample for laboratory testing.
