ISLAMABAD, Jun 3 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and friendly relations with Italy.
During an informal discussion with Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, at a reception marking the 80th National Day of the Italian Republic, he extended congratulations to the government and people of Italy on behalf of the Senate and the people of Pakistan, said a news release.
Gilani reaffirms commitment to strengthening Pakistan–Italy relations
He described Italy as a trusted friend and emphasized that bilateral ties are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and cooperation on regional and international issues.
The Chairman Senate highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and growing trade and investment.
He also appreciated Italy’s support for Pakistan’s GSP+ status and its development cooperation in the fields of healthcare, education, and sanitation.
Gilani commended Ambassador Marilina Armellin for her efforts to promote bilateral relations and expressed confidence that Pakistan–Italy friendship and cooperation would continue to grow in the years ahead.
The Chairman Senate also cut a commemorative cake and conveyed his best wishes to the government and people of Italy.
