LAHORE, Jun 03 (APP):Punjab Police have spent more than Rs.970 million on welfare initiatives for serving personnel and their families during the current year.
According to the spokesperson on Wednesday,over Rs.301.7 million had been disbursed as educational scholarships for the children of police employees to support their academic pursuits.
The spokesperson said that more than Rs.261.3 million had been provided as wedding grants for the daughters of police personnel while over Rs.146.2 million had been released to assist employees and their families with medical treatment expenses.
According to the spokesperson,Punjab Police also disbursed more than Rs.138.5 million in retirement grants to retired personnel and over Rs88.9 million as subsistence allowances for the families of police employees.
He added that Rs.26.5 million had been provided to families of police personnel to help meet funeral expenses, while more than Rs.6.8 million was distributed as emergency financial assistance to members of the force.
Inspector General of Police (IGP),Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police would continue utilizing resources generated through the Police Welfare Fund and other welfare sources to address the financial and social needs of employees and their families.
He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of police personnel and their dependents.
