Six killed as vehicle plunges into ravine in Lower Kohistan

At least six people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan after a passenger car plunged into a deep ravine near Taris Banda area.

PESHAWAR, Jun 02 (APP): At least six people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan after a passenger car plunged into a deep ravine near Taris Banda area.
According to Rescue 1122 officials on Tuesday, the vehicle, bearing registration number AFB-324 was traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when it met with the fatal accident. All six occupants of the car died at the scene.
Rescue teams from Rescue 1122, along with personnel from Patan Police Station, Kero Check Post and Mata Banda Check Post rushed to the site after receiving reports of the crash. With the assistance of local residents, emergency responders launched a rescue operation in the difficult mountainous terrain.
Rescue officials stated that the challenging location of the accident extended the rescue efforts which took nearly three hours to complete. The bodies of all victims were subsequently shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Patan.
The deceased have been identified as Suleman Khan, son of Mahmood Taj and a resident of Muzaffarabad; Muhammad Shaban, son of Akhtar Mian and a resident of Khanewal; as well as Imran and Daniyal. The identities of two other victims have not yet been confirmed.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
