RAWALPINDI, Jun 02 (APP): An interfaith unity conference was held in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to ensure maintaining law and order during Muharram, bringing together religious scholars, administration, and law enforcement officials who collectively reaffirmed their joint commitment to peace.
The conference was chaired by Chairman Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab and Member Council of Islamic Ideology, Mufti Dr Intikhab Ahmed Noori. Commissioner Rawalpindi Aamir Khattak, RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, MNA Huma Akhtar, and MPAs Asma Naz Abbasi and Zeb-un-Nisa were among the participants.
Addressing the gathering, Mufti Intekhab Noori said that maintaining peace and national stability was a shared responsibility, adding that Pakistan was emerging as a centre of peace. He said the conference was organized ahead of the month of Muharram on the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab to maintain law and order.
He cautioned against misinformation on social media, saying hostile elements could attempt to spread unrest through fake accounts, and urged all segments of society to remain vigilant. He said that the nation would foil all such attempts.
Commissioner, Engr. Aamir Khattak said that religious scholars had always played a constructive role in maintaining law and order and stressed the need for close coordination between administration, police, and ulema during Muharram.
RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa said that effective and comprehensive security arrangements would be ensured in consultation with all stakeholders.
MNA Huma Akhtar and MPA Asma Naz Abbasi warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading fake news.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to fostering unity, harmony, and peace, while special prayers were offered for the country’s stability and prosperity.
