Rain, windstorm likely in Rawalpindi region from June 2

RAWALPINDI, Jun 01 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast dust-thunderstorm and rain in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas from June 2 to June 5 as a westerly weather system is likely to approach the upper parts of the country.
Under the influence of the system, scattered rain-wind/thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, are expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum during the period with occasional gaps.
The Met Office, in a weather update issued on Monday indicated the weather system would also affect a large part of Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions, where similar conditions are likely.
Rain-thunderstorm activity is also expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts including Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swat and Dera Ismail Khan, as well as in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where heavy falls may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas between June 3 and 6.
PMD has warned that windstorms, hail and lightning may damage weak structures such as electric poles, solar panels and billboards. Farmers have been advised to manage crops accordingly, while tourists and travellers have been urged to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary movement during the forecast period.
