Heatstroke Corners activated in all health facilities of Larkana district

LARKANA, Jun 01 (APP):In light of the decisions made during the District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting, the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) has fully activated special “Heatstroke Corners” across all its health facilities in Larkana District.
A severe heatwave is currently affecting Larkana and its surrounding areas, with temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius. Considering the rise in emergency medical issues caused by the heat, the District Coordination Committee had issued directives to take immediate steps to provide prompt first aid and emergency treatment to heatstroke patients. Each Heatstroke Corner is equipped with facilities to ensure the timely treatment and care of patients affected by the heat, including all necessary emergency medicines required for treating heatstroke.
Patients are being provided with IV fluids to immediately replenish water and salt deficiencies and stabilize their condition. ORS packets are available for immediate oral rehydration. Clean, cold drinking water is being provided for patients and their attendants. Fans, cooled rooms, and other necessary cooling arrangements are in place to lower body temperature. Trained medical officers and paramedical staff will provide services according to the established protocols for identifying and providing initial first aid for heatstroke.
Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, praised the timely measures taken by PPHI Larkana District Manager Junaid Ahmed Soho and the entire PPHI team, stating, “During the current intense heatwave and rising temperatures, providing immediate first aid and emergency treatment to heatstroke patients is crucial for saving human lives. The established and activated Heatstroke Corners in PPHI health centers will specifically provide prompt and effective treatment facilities at the local level, particularly for the rural population.”
He appealed to citizens that if they or anyone around them shows symptoms of heatstroke, such as high fever, dizziness, nausea, confusion, or fainting, they should immediately contact the nearest PPHI health center. Timely medical aid at the Heatstroke Corners can play a vital role in preventing complications and saving precious lives.
