No nation achieve sustainable progress without empowering its women: Rana Mashood

KARACHI, May 30 (APP): The Chairman of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan here on Saturday said, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif places special emphasis on youth development, particularly the empowerment of young women, and considers them a vital force for the country’s future.
He made these remarks while addressing a press conference during the 3rd Empower National Girls Tournament 2026 held at the Governor House Karachi on Saturday.
    The event was attended by celebrities, renowned sports personalities, government officials, youth representatives, and a large number of female athletes from across the country.
       On the occasion, the Chairman of PMYP expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Sindh for his continued support for the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and thanked all distinguished guests, participants, and stakeholders for their presence and contribution to the success of the event.
    Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan emphasized that the initiative represents a significant step towards women empowerment in Pakistan. He stated that no nation can achieve sustainable progress and prosperity without empowering its women and ensuring their active participation in all spheres of life.
He described the tournament as a remarkable example of practical women empowerment and noted that such initiatives contribute not only to sports development but also to the character building, confidence, and leadership qualities of young women.
    The Chairman also acknowledged the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for supporting the development of world-class sports facilities of Olympic standards. He stated that these facilities would provide female athletes with opportunities to develop their skills, showcase their talent, and compete at national and international levels.
   Mashood further remarked that the Government is committed to creating opportunities for youth and women through collaborative initiatives that foster inclusion, development, and empowerment. He said that such platforms would enable women to pursue professional careers in sports, earn livelihoods, and represent Pakistan with distinction on the global stage.
  He described the tournament as a bridge connecting talented female athletes with opportunities for growth and recognition. He informed participants that the talent hunt programme would culminate in a grand finale in Islamabad, where the most promising athletes from across the country would compete and demonstrate their abilities. He expressed confidence that the initiative would help young women build successful futures through sports and emerge as ambassadors of Pakistan on international platforms.
    Replying to a question, he reiterated the Government’s commitment to identifying and nurturing talent irrespective of background or circumstances.
     He cited the example of Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, stating that true talent ultimately shines despite challenges and obstacles.
    He assured participants that the Government would provide talented youth with the necessary equipment, training, and grooming opportunities to help them excel in sports.
    Responding to another question, he emphasized the importance of merit, transparency, and fairness in sports competitions. He stated that referees and coaches participating in the programme would perform their duties impartially, ensuring equal opportunities for all athletes and supporting deserving talent without discrimination.
