FAISALABAD, May 19 (APP):Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen on Tuesday said that the divisional administration had intensified efforts to ensure peace and maintain law and order during Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram-ul-Haram.
She was chairing a meeting of the Divisional Peace Committee attended by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, deputy commissioners, the city police officer (CPO), district police officers (DPOs) and prominent religious scholars.
Welcoming the participants, the commissioner briefed the meeting on arrangements made for Eid-ul-Azha, while the RPO informed attendees about the security measures and a comprehensive security plan devised for the occasion.
Musarrat Jabeen said religious scholars were a respected segment of society and urged them to promote the message of peace, brotherhood and religious harmony during Friday sermons ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram-ul-Haram.
She also requested ulema to use mosques and pulpits to create awareness among citizens regarding cleanliness during Eid-ul-Azha and encourage cooperation with sanitation workers for the proper disposal of animal waste.
The commissioner informed the meeting about arrangements made at model cattle markets and temporary sale points established across the division to facilitate buyers and sellers of sacrificial animals.
She said cleanliness and security arrangements at Eidgahs, mosques and public parks would be completed in accordance with the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Speaking on the occasion, the RPO appreciated the positive and constructive role of religious scholars in maintaining peace and harmony in society and highlighted key features of the Eid-ul-Azha security plan.
Members of the Divisional Peace Committee, including Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi, Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan, Ashiq Hussain Rizvi,Aslam Bhalli and Khawaja Shahid Razaq Sakka, assured the administration and police of their full cooperation in maintaining peace and promoting unity during the religious occasions.
