General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has expanded services for elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi during the Hajj 1447 AH season by providing thousands of wheelchairs, electric carts and accessibility facilities.
4,700 wheelchairs, electric carts deployed for pilgrims at Prophet’s Mosque

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has expanded services for elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi during the Hajj 1447 AH season by providing thousands of wheelchairs, electric carts and accessibility facilities.
According to SPA, the services include 4,700 wheelchairs available at designated locations inside the Prophet’s Mosque and its courtyards, which can be borrowed through gate management offices and service points.
The authority said electric carts transporting several passengers are also helping more than 8,000 elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities move daily across the outer courtyards of the mosque.

The report said special prayer areas have been arranged near the mosque’s main entrances along with wheelchair-friendly pathways, accessible elevators, ramps and guidance signs to facilitate easier movement for worshippers.
Dedicated parking spaces for vehicles of persons with disabilities have also been allocated near entrances in the underground parking area.

Field staff and volunteers are providing assistance and guidance services, while Braille copies of the Holy Quran, translated sermons and interactive digital maps are helping visitors access facilities and services more easily.
More than 7,500 field personnel are overseeing operational services during the Hajj season, focusing on crowd management and multilingual support to ensure pilgrims perform prayers and worship with comfort and ease.
