Anti-polio campaign to begin in 10 districts from May 18

RAWALPINDI, May 17 (APP): A special anti-polio campaign will begin across 10 selected districts of Punjab from May 18.

According to the Punjab Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), the campaign will also focus on Rawalpindi division and its districts to ensure that every child is administered polio drops.

Over 6.19 million children up to five years of age will be vaccinated during the drive. As per the schedule, the campaign will continue till May 22 in nine selected districts, while in Lahore it will be monitored and extended till May 24 to ensure 100 percent coverage of children who may have been missed.

In Rawalpindi, special teams have been constituted to make the campaign effective, which will visit door to door in both urban and rural areas to administer polio drops to children.

Parents and guardians have been urged to fully cooperate with polio teams and ensure that all children under the age of five receive the vaccine to protect them from lifelong disability.
