ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): A polio vaccination campaign will begin in the federal capital on May 18, with health authorities urging parents to ensure that all children upto the age of 5 years receive polio drops during the drive.
Officials said repeated vaccination helps strengthen protection against the virus and remains necessary for every child.
According to the administration, teams will visit different areas of Islamabad as part of the campaign to vaccinate children at homes, health centers and designated points. Parents have been advised to cooperate with health workers and make sure eligible children are vaccinated.
Health officials said children upto the age of five years must receive polio drops during every campaign because repeated doses increase immunity and improve protection against the disease. Authorities added that even children who have received drops in previous campaigns should be vaccinated again.
The administration said the anti-polio drive is part of continued efforts to eliminate the virus and protect children from lifelong disability caused by polio. Officials also appealed to citizens to support vaccination teams and spread awareness about the importance of immunization.
