506 outlaws in handcuffs as ICT Police launch sweeping anti-crime operations
ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 506 accused, including proclaimed offenders, drug peddlers and illegal weapon holders, during a large-scale crackdown launched across the federal capital in the first 10 days of May 2026.
An official told APP on Sunday that Islamabad Police arrested 238 accused involved in illegal weapons, display of arms and narcotics-related activities during different operations.
He said indiscriminate action against drug peddlers led to the arrest of 113 narcotics dealers.
According to the official, police recovered over 20 kilograms of hashish, 13 kilograms of heroin, 14 kilograms of Ice and 674 bottles of liquor from the arrested accused.
He said Islamabad Police also arrested 125 accused involved in illegal weapons during the same period.
The official said police recovered 105 pistols, nine rifles/guns, seven Kalashnikovs, 11 daggers and a large quantity of ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspects.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq said ICT Police arrested 268 proclaimed offenders and previously record-holder criminals involved in various crimes during the first 10 days of May.
He said Islamabad Police also conducted 107 grand combing and search operations in different areas of the capital against criminal elements during the same period.
The DIG Tariq said police organized over 87 open courts (Khuli Kachehris) to ensure prompt resolution of public complaints and improve community policing.
Tariq said Islamabad Police was utilizing all available resources to ensure protection of citizens’ lives and property.
