Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has said that modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine, genomic research, and robotic surgery are bringing revolutionary changes to healthcare systems.

LAHORE, May 16 (APP): Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has said that modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine, genomic research, and robotic surgery are bringing revolutionary changes to healthcare systems.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Pakistan Medical Association’s International Medical Conference held on Saturday.
He said that alongside medical advancements, it is equally important to ensure compassion, medical ethics, and equal access to healthcare facilities for all patients. He also highlighted the role of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers during global pandemics, including COVID-19, saying they set remarkable examples of service to humanity.
The Speaker stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, historic reforms have been introduced in the province’s healthcare sector. He said that free medical services are being provided through 200 mobile clinics in both urban and rural areas, while basic health units are being upgraded with modern facilities.
He further said that the Punjab government has introduced a modern co-ablation machine for cancer treatment free of cost, along with the launch of an air ambulance service and motorway-based Rescue 1122 services.
Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan noted that Pakistan needs more trained medical professionals due to population growth and rising healthcare challenges, and urged young doctors to serve the country instead of seeking opportunities abroad.
He added that Pakistani medical experts are highly respected globally for their skills and professionalism, and said international medical conferences play an important role in promoting research, education, and global collaboration.
