MULTAN, May 16 (APP): Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Multan on Saturday conducted a large-scale pre-flood emergency drill near Head Muhammad Wala Bridge on the River Chenab to prepare for possible flood situations.
The exercise was carried out under the directives of the Government of Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, and Secretary Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Naseer (Sitara-e-Imtiaz).
It was led by District Emergency Officer Dr. Hussain Mian.
Multiple departments including district administration, Rescue 1122 volunteers, livestock, highways, metropolitan corporation, civil defense, and social welfare participated in the exercise, establishing coordinated response camps and demonstrating their assigned emergency roles.
The drill simulated flood conditions, including evacuation of victims by boat, provision of first aid, and transfer of injured persons to field hospitals.
Divers and swimmers also demonstrated water rescue operations for drowning victims.
An emergency control room was activated and linked with the district control system to ensure real-time coordination among all departments.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Multan, Mudassar Nawaz, attended as chief guest and appreciated the preparedness and coordination of all participating agencies.
Officials stated that such exercises were aimed at improving inter-agency coordination, testing resources, and ensuring timely emergency response in case of flooding or other disasters.
