KARACHI, May 15 (APP): The Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh on Friday said that today was the last day of the by-election campaign for the by-elections being held on vacant seats in 13 local councils across 9 districts of Sindh.
Under Section 182 of the Elections Act 2017, all election-related activities must cease 48 hours before polling. Therefore, after 12:00 midnight tonight, the holding of any public gathering, rally, corner meeting, or any similar political activity in the relevant councils will be prohibited, the Commission said.
In this regard, the Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh, Ijaz Anwar Chauhan, clarified that strict legal action will be taken against candidates and political parties for any violation of the code of conduct.
Moreover, all political parties and candidates to strictly observe the campaign closing time and ensure compliance with the code of conduct so that the electoral process may be completed in a transparent, fair, and peaceful environment.
It is noteworthy that polling for the local government by-elections will be held on Sunday 17 May 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
