PESHAWAR, May 15 (APP): Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Friday chaired a meeting on the monsoon contingency plan and reviewed preparedness measures across the province.
He directed all departments to complete pre-monsoon arrangements, ensure 24/7 functioning of emergency operation centers, and finalize vulnerability mapping, SOP trainings, and mock exercises by June 15.
The meeting was informed that monitoring of glacial lakes, rivers, and rainfall is underway, while major progress has been made in cleaning drains and drainage lines across the province.
The Chief Minister also ordered faster flood protection works, removal of encroachments, and readiness of rescue equipment, boats, and water pumps. Rescue 1122 has finalized its contingency plan and established water rescue points at various locations.
Authorities were directed to ensure availability of medicines, tents, relief goods, and emergency machinery before the monsoon season. Tourism monitoring has also been intensified in Swat, Kaghan, Galiyat, Chitral, and Kumrat.
The Chief Minister emphasized that delays in rescue operations during emergencies would not be tolerated.
