KARACHI, May 14 (APP):The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) to promote academic, clinical, and biomedical research collaboration between the two institutions.
The MoU aims to foster cooperation in the fields of healthcare, biomedical research, and scientific innovation.
The signing ceremony was held at the office of the Medical Director of Liaquat National Hospital, Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi, on Wednesday evening. Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, University of Karachi, and Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Saleha Shahzad, Dr. Naila Zahid, Dr. Naveen Faridi, Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, and heads of various departments of Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College.
Welcoming the ICCBS delegation, Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi highlighted the importance of collaboration between clinicians and biomedical researchers in advancing translational research and improving healthcare outcomes.
Recalling his recent visit to ICCBS, he appreciated the institution’s advanced scientific infrastructure and the quality of research being conducted there.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah introduced ICCBS and its constituent centers, outlining the national and international recognition earned by the institution over the years.
He emphasized that ICCBS remains committed to serving society through translational research, which requires strong partnerships between leading medical institutions and research centers.
Prof. Shah also highlighted the center’s extensive international collaborations, its role in producing highly trained human resources, and its contribution as a prominent representative of Pakistani science at the global level. He further referred to the services rendered by ICCBS during the COVID-19 pandemic and its continued efforts to address emerging national scientific and healthcare challenges.
The MoU is expected to strengthen cooperation in biomedical research, clinical studies, training, and innovation-driven healthcare initiatives.
