Rawalpindi Police reject ‘Baseless Propaganda’ Over Police Martyrs Welfare Filling Station
RAWALPINDI, May 13 (APP):Rawalpindi Police have dismissed as “baseless propaganda” claims circulating on social media regarding the Police Martyrs Welfare Filling Station, clarifying that the facility was established through a transparent process under official welfare rules.
According to a spokesperson for Rawalpindi Police, the filling station was awarded to Shell Pakistan through an open bidding process conducted under Police Welfare Rules and supervised by the District Management Committee.
The spokesperson stated that the contract was granted in accordance with PPRA rules after Shell Pakistan emerged as the highest bidder in a transparent bidding procedure.
Police officials said the entire income generated from the welfare filling station has, since its inception, been dedicated to the families of police martyrs and injured officers (Ghazi personnel).
Under the welfare programme, families of 122 police martyrs receive Rs15,000 every month through cross cheques, while disabled and seriously injured Ghazi personnel, as well as officers requiring permanent medication and treatment, are paid Rs10,000 monthly.
The spokesperson further revealed that during the remodeling of Katchery Chowk, notices were issued to the filling station manager, Adil Ikram, over alleged non-payments in violation of the agreement.
Rawalpindi Police also informed Shell Pakistan in writing to terminate Adil Ikram’s dealership and convert the outlet into a “Company Owned, Company Operated” facility.
The police warned that they reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings against individuals involved in spreading false and misleading propaganda regarding the matter.
