LAHORE, May 12 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced the nomination of Liaqat Shaheed for the country’s highest civil award in recognition of his supreme sacrifice while foiling a suicide attack in Attock.
According to a handout, Liaqat Shaheed stopped a suicide bomber from advancing at the Jand border check-post and embraced martyrdom after the attacker detonated himself.
Paying rich tribute to the martyr, the chief minister said individuals like Liaqat Shaheed were the true heroes of the nation who rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the protection of the country.
She said Liaqat Shaheed set a remarkable example of courage, patriotism and devotion by laying down his life in the line of duty to save innocent people.
CM Maryam Nawaz further announced that Liaqat Shaheed would be nominated for the country’s highest civil award in acknowledgment of his bravery and great sacrifice for the homeland.
