Karachi University’s Computational Chemistry Scientist Elected FRSC Fellow

Dr. Zaheer-Ul-Haq, a professor at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), United Kingdom, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of chemical sciences.

KARACHI, May 12 (APP): Dr. Zaheer-Ul-Haq, a professor at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), United Kingdom, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of chemical sciences.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, University of Karachi, extended his congratulations to Prof. Zaheer-Ul-Haq on this remarkable achievement, describing it as a significant milestone not only for the institution but also for the University of Karachi.
According to the spokesperson for ICCBS, University of Karachi, Prof. Zaheer-Ul-Haq is a distinguished scientist internationally recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of Computational Chemistry. He is the founder and head of Pakistan’s premier Computational Chemistry Laboratory, established at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi. Over the course of his career, he has published more than 350 research articles in leading international journals.
His research focuses on major health challenges, including Alzheimer’s disease, hypertension, cancer, immunosuppression, leishmaniasis, and hepatitis. Under his supervision, around 70 students have completed their M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Computational Chemistry. He is also the inventor of five U.S. patents.
It is worth mentioning that the scientific impact of his work is reflected in more than 7,000 citations, with an h-index of 40 and an i10-index of 175. In addition, he serves as the editor of the internationally recognized book series Frontiers in Computational Chemistry.
