ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said the federal government was determined to improve the doctor-to-nurse ratio in the country to strengthen the healthcare sector and ensure effective delivery of medical services to the public.
In his message on International Nurses Day, the prime minister said the strength of the health sector largely depended on the balanced presence of doctors and nurses, adding that the government was working on a comprehensive strategy in collaboration with provincial governments and relevant institutions to address the issue.
He said nurses played a vital role in providing basic healthcare facilities to the public and acknowledged their frontline services rendered under difficult circumstances.
Paying tribute to nurses in Pakistan and across the world, the prime minister said their care for patients reflected the true spirit of humanitarian service.
Referring to this year’s International Nurses Day theme, “Nurses Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” he said professional expertise and modern medical training for nurses were essential for saving precious human lives through timely healthcare.
The prime minister also termed the services of nurses a matter of pride for the nation and appreciated their dedication to humanity despite challenges and limited incentives.
