ISLAMABAD, May 06 (APP): The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) marks a landmark achievement for the engineering community as the long-standing demand for a technical allowance for engineers has received key endorsement.
The Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology has recommended the Technical Allowance for engineers nationwide, reflecting sustained institutional efforts and advocacy.
According to the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), the vision and consistent engagement of Chairman PEC, Engr.Waseem Nazir, at national policy and legislative forums played a pivotal role in achieving this milestone.
This development marks the fulfillment of a decades-long aspiration of the engineering community, turning a 76-year-old dream into reality.
The demand for a technical allowance has been persistently raised by engineers across the country, reflecting their need for fair recognition in line with their professional responsibilities.
Through sustained advocacy, strategic engagement, and effective representation, PEC ensured that the voice of engineers was not only heard but also translated into meaningful progress at the national level.
Chairman PEC, Engr. Waseem Nazir, congratulated engineers across the country on this important progress.
He noted that this outcome reflects a clear vision to elevate the status of the engineering profession and to address longstanding concerns related to parity and professional recognition.
Under his leadership, PEC actively pursued the case of engineers at multiple forums, ensuring their perspectives were effectively presented and acknowledged.
The Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir expressed his appreciation to Kamil Ali Agha, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology, and its honorable members for their support and consideration of this long-awaited matter.
He acknowledged their role in advancing the case for engineers and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure its effective implementation nationwide.
According to PEC, similar allowances are already granted to various professional groups, including medical officers, judges, civil servants, pilots, paramilitary forces, and management cadres.
It is further noted that regions such as Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan have already approved technical allowances for engineers, while the process is actively underway in Sindh and Balochistan.
